Ukraine will send a request to the North Atlantic Alliance to convene a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council to discuss the issue of strengthening Ukraine's air defence.

Details: The Ukrainian president once again referred to the discussions on how the United States and other Western allies had joined in repelling Iran's attack on Israel with missiles and drones.

Quote: "Over the past two days, we've heard all sorts of things. [Such as] Different conflicts – here in Europe and in the Middle East – different threat levels, different airspace, although the Shahed drones and ballistic missiles are the same. [They said] That the threats of escalation are different," Zelenskyy listed.

He stressed that in all cases, the issue is about equally valuable human lives, which must be "protected at the same level from terror".

"Ukraine will request a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council to discuss the protection of the skies, the supply of air defence, relevant systems and missiles," the Ukrainian president said, without giving any more details.

Background:

  • The White House stated that the United States refused to take any combat role in the war in Ukraine, so it will not shoot down Iranian drones launched by Russia, as it did with allies last weekend in Israel.
