Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded the 88-year-old French actor Alain Delon with the Order of Merit for his steadfast vocal support of Kyiv since the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion, France 24 reported on April 18, citing Ukrainian Ambassador Vadym Omelchenko’s interview with TV5 Monde channel.

"Mr. Delon, dear Alain, I know that you are in a difficult situation, and I want to tell you that you are not alone,” he said.

“You have many fans and people who love you... I and my people are on your side."

Omelchenko also mentioned that Delon had previously spoken with Zelenskyy, himself a former actor, and recalled that he had recited poems by Taras Shevchenko, a prominent Ukrainian poet, during a television program.

This news comes amid a period of health problems for Delon, as well as conflicts and disagreements with his children, which have led to lawsuits and public disputes. Delon was particularly upset by his son Anthony's comments about his health and mental state.
