LONDON (AP) — British police have confirmed that the man killed in an apparent terror attack was a serving soldier.

Police said Thursday morning that they believe they know the man's identity but will not be releasing it at his family's request.

Police say a post-mortem examination will be conducted later Thursday.

The man was butchered near an army barracks Wednesday afternoon. Police shot and wounded the unidentified assailants and took them into custody.
