UFC Star Nick Diaz Arrested on Charges of Domestic Violence

Former UFC welterweight title contender Nick Diaz was arrested in Las Vegas on multiple charges of domestic violence.

An online search of court records show that Diaz was arrested on two separate charges — domestic battery by strangulation, which is a felony, and misdemeanor domestic battery. The felony charge could result in a prison term of up to five years if convicted.

Las Vegas Police were able to confirm the arrest, but not Diaz's specific identity. A separate source confirmed that it was indeed the UFC welterweight who was taken into custody.

Diaz is currently being held on $18,000 bail after being placed under arrest.

The incident allegedly took place on Thursday evening, according to a separate report from MMAJunkie, with a female victim and police responding around 7:20 p.m. local time.

Diaz hasn't fought in the UFC since 2015, although UFC president Dana White had said recently that he believed the former title contender would eventually make a return to action.

Diaz will remain in custody until a court hearing on Saturday morning and then he will be allowed to post bail to be released.
