UETHDA: Energy assistance program coming to region in March

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – Upper East Tennessee Human Development Agency (UETHDA) announced its Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), a program designed to keep families and individuals safe and assist them with energy costs, will come to the region in March.

“For those who qualify, a payment is sent directly to the recipient’s utility company and is credited to their bill,” UETHDA said in the release. “Payments can take up to 90 days to be applied.”

“Priority for this program is given to low-income, energy-burdened, disabled, elderly, homes with children under 6, veterans and large households,” according to UETHDA.
