Sep. 10—THOMASVILLE- The Ladies Memorial Association was formed in 1874. Later, the group of ladies incorporated on January 28, 1894, into the United Daughters of the Confederacy. This organization is the oldest continual linage group in the United States of America. John B. Gordon chapter 383 honored two of their members for having over 35 years of continuous membership and service to the UDC.

Dot Maxwell is Vice President of the chapter. It was her duty and honor to order and present the 35-year pins and certificates. She introduced Jinanne Parrish, who joined the UDC on March 31, 1986. She joined under her Great Grandfather Jonah Beal Davis of Company B, 8th Regiment, FL, Vol. Infantry. Maxwell said to Parrish, "You have served faithfully in various offices, committees, and responsibilities. Thank you for serving our chapter. You are loved and appreciated for your commitment to our chapter, John B. Gordon chapter 383 UDC." Maxwell and Parrish are cousins.

Kay Yarbrough, who could not attend the meeting, was also given a 35-year UDC membership pin. She joined on December 21, 1986. She joined under her Great, Great Grandfather Thomas Jefferson McIntyre of Company A, 15th Regiment, AL, Infantry.

Maxwell named three other members that have already received a 35-year membership pin, including Penny Gaskins, Lois Hand, and Sheila Tucker.
