UC Davis student missing for nearly a week. She was last seen in San Francisco, police say

Authorities are searching for a missing UC Davis first-year student — thought to be in “distress” by police — after she left campus nearly a week ago and boarded a train to San Francisco.

Diane Shoyeon Min, 18, left UC Davis on Friday and arrived at Mission Street in San Francisco via the Capitol Corridor train and an Amtrak bus, the university said in a news release. She was reported missing three days later on Monday evening, authorities said.

Min is described as a 5-foot-4, 120-pound Asian woman with black hair and brown eyes, university police said. The computer engineering major was last seen wearing glasses, dark jacket, leggings and black Skechers shoes, the state Attorney General’s Office said.

The Attorney General’s Office noted she was also wearing a necklace with a wire wrapped around an amulet and an unknown model watch.

UC Davis police officers are leading the investigation and working with the San Francisco Police Department to help find Min.

It’s unclear why Min is believed to be in “distress” or why she went to San Francisco. Bill Kisliuk, a spokesman for the university and its police force, said more details about Min’s disappearance remain under investigation and could not be disclosed.

But Kisliuk added it’s common for students to spend weekends away from Davis. She was reported missing to police on Monday because she hadn’t returned, he said.

Anyone with information about Min’s location is asked to call UC Davis police at 530-752-1727.
