Unfortunately, the world only recognizes Lo-Letha Toland-Hall as the Black Uber driver chased in a video by an armed white man. Ms. Toland-Hall, 61, died after being shot multiple times by William Brock, police said.

He is facing murder charges and his bail is set at currently $200,000, per CBS News.

Before the tragedy, this woman was more than just another victim of a crime, but a mother and more. Ms. Toland-Hall was of course working for Uber when she arrived at Brock’s home to pick up a package for delivery on March 25. It was one of the few things she did to occupy herself after retirement, according to her obituary.

The Columbus, Ohio native worked for the Regional Income Tax Agency for most of her career before moving on to the Bureau of Workers Compensation, the Kipp Academy of North Carolina and also St. Vincent’s Behavioral Health Center.

She also started her own janitorial service. Outside of work, she served as a volunteer with the outreach ministry of Faith Ministries Church. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with family as well as gardening and fishing.

In the kitchen, she was good at cooking pretty much anything but she was best at making buttery pound cakes, the obituary says.

However, there was nothing she loved more than her son, Mario. The 33-year-old was Toland-Hall’s only child. Their bond was described as “unbreakable.” Whenever you saw her, you saw him.

“Sure, she was my mother first and foremost… but she was also my best friend. We talked every day, multiple times a day,” said Mario at her funeral. “To my Lo-Lo… you are my light, my rock, my heart, my everything. Thank you for all your sacrifices and all the things you instilled in me. You are the best mom anyone could ask for and I promise to continue to make you proud.”

Mario Hall closed his remarks by reciting the lyrics from Mary J. Blige’s “My Everything. ” It was a song the two used to listen to as they danced and clean, but now he must enjoy it alone.
