UAVs hit Lipetsk metallurgical plant in Russia

Drones attacked the Novolipetsk Steel works (NLMK) in Russia’s Lipetsk overnight, as reported by locals on social media early on April 24, according to the Astra Telegram channel.

There is no information about the damage so far.

Lipetsk regional governor, Igor Artamonov, claims that the drones fell on the territory of the cityi’s industrial zone, there were no casualties, and law enforcement officers are working at the scene.

Ukraine allegedly “attempted to strike” at the infrastructure. At the same time, he asks residents not to film the aftermath of the strike.

“The object was an isolated one, there was no threat of an attack on the residential area,” the Russian official added.

The Lipetsk plant was already attacked by a UAV in February 2024. At the time, the governor claimed that there was a fire in one of NLMK’s shops.

The metallurgical plant in Lipetsk, Russia, is one of the largest ferrous metallurgy enterprises in Russia. NLMK produces coke, iron, steel and rolled products.

Lipetsk is located more than 400 kilometers from the territory controlled by Ukraine.

Drones also attacked Smolensk Oblast in the early hours of April 24, and a fire broke out on the property of the Smolensk refinery, according to social media reports.
