UAV strikes ignite fires at fuel and energy sites in Russia’s Smolensk Oblast

Russia’s Smolensk Oblast fuel facilities were attacked by UAVs overnight, the Governor of the Smolensk Oblast Vasily Anokhin reported on April 24 on Telegram.

Fires broke out as a result at fuel and energy facilities in the Smolensk and Yartsevo districts of Smolensk Oblast.

"It is likely that as a result of the enemy's attack on civilian fuel and energy facilities in the Smolensk and Yartsevo districts, fires occurred," Anokhin said.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations is actively responding to the situation. Anokhin urged the public to remain calm and avoid panicking.

Residents near the villages of Razdorovo and Prigorskoe have reported seeing an oil refinery ablaze and shared videos online. Witnesses also reported hearing between four and five explosions during the night.
