U.S. women’s soccer roster announced for SheBelieves Cup in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The United States women’s national soccer team is coming to Columbus in two weeks and the roster is now set.

The USWNT will play two matches in April’s SheBelieves Cup starting with a semifinal clash against Japan on April 6 in Atlanta. On April 9, the USA along with Japan, Brazil, and Canada will play in the third-place match and final at Lower.com Field in Columbus.

Ohio Olympian focused on growing the game of women’s hockey

The 23-woman roster has been named by interim head coach Twila Kilgore, who will lead the team until current Chelsea boss Emma Hayes takes over after the end of the club season.

Nineteen of the players in the roster just completed and won the 2024 CONCACAF W Gold Cup and will now look to win another trophy in preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Among the players not named to the roster is Ohio native Rose Lavelle, who was omitted because of an injury.

The USA’s game at Lower.com Field will kick-off at 7 p.m., no matter if they play in the final or the third-place match. This will be the second time the USWNT plays at the Columbus Crew’s home, having won a friendly 9-0 over Uzbekistan on April 9, 2022.

Team USA will open the 2024 Paris Olympics on July 25 as they seek its first gold medal since London 2012.
