CANTON − U.S. Rep. Emilia Sykes, D-Akron, will hold a Community Conversation from 6 to 7 p.m. May 30 at the Greater Stark County Urban League, 1400 Sherrick Road SE.

She will discuss her work to improve maternal health.

Sykes co-sponsored the Momnibus Act, comprehensive legislation to support mothers and combat the public health crisis of maternal mortality in the United States by addressing maternal healthcare, affordable childcare, paid family leave, and economic empowerment for women, according to a news release.

Joining Sykes at the event will be Canton City Public Health Commissioner Amanda Archer, Dawn Miller, program manager for Stark County THRIVE, and My Community Health nurse practitioner LaToya Dickens-Jones. They will highlight community resources and local efforts to support mothers and babies to improve maternal health.
