Should the U.S. military intervene in Venezuela?

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro remains in power despite repeated attempts to unseat him by groups loyal to opposition leader Juan Guaidó. In January, the U.S. joined several other prominent nations in recognizing Guaidó as Venezuela’s true president. The U.S. has taken aggressive steps to compel Maduro to step down, including sanctions and political pressure. But nonmilitary options have come up short. President Trump has said “all options are on the table.”
