U.S. Marshals arrest Harrison County murder suspect in Ohio

Mar. 8—FAIRMONT — U.S. Marshals have arrested an Ohio man who is wanted for murder in Harrison County.

According to a press release, members of the U.S. Marshals Service Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Kameron Darnell Griffin, 23, of Akron, Ohio, on Friday around 12:30 p.m. at a residence in Akron.

Griffin and at least two other adults are wanted in the murder and kidnapping of Dallion Lewis that occurred on March 21, 2023. According to the release, Griffin, Dennis High, of Salem, West Virginia, Jennifer Kierk, of Clarksburg and Douglas Steiner, of Mount Clare, West Virginia, went to Lewis' home in Hepzibah, West Virginia with the intention of harming or killing him.

Police later discovered Lewis' body on Jack Run Road where they found "apparent gunshot wounds that caused his death."

Police said Griffin is alleged to have shot Lewis two times during the kidnapping. Police arrested and charged High with murder the day after discovering Lewis' body. Two days later, police charged Kirk with murder. On March 2, officers charged Steiner with accessory after the fact.

The Harrison County Sheriff's Office and Greater Harrison County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force led the homicide investigation. The investigation led to the identification of multiple suspects who are alleged to have participated in the murder.

The U.S. Marshals Mountain State Fugitive Task Force was requested to assist in locating Griffin after investigators determined he had fled the Harrison County area. Through coordinated efforts with U.S. Marshals task forces in West Virginia and Ohio, Griffin's location was identified. During the arrest attempt, Griffin attempted to flee from the residence, but he was ultimately apprehended by perimeter officers.

"I commend the hard work of the investigators from the Harrison County Sheriff's Office and Greater Harrison County Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force," Terry Moore, acting U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of West Virginia, said. "They were able to piece this criminal act together quickly, and now those responsible can be held accountable for their actions. We also appreciate the swift action from our U.S. Marshals counterparts in the Northern District of Ohio to apprehend this suspect quickly and safely."

"This case highlights the great teamwork of multiple agencies in Harrison County. Thanks to the efforts of all the agencies involved, the subjects accused of this deliberate criminal act are now in custody," Harrison County Sheriff Robert Matheny said.

Griffin will appear in Ohio for his initial appearance on the charges. If detained, he will be extradited to Harrison County to face trial.
