U. of Hawaii employees ratify 2-year contract

HGEA University of Hawaii unit of 2,300 workers overwhelmingly ratifies new 2-year contract

HONOLULU (AP) -- About 2,300 administrative, professional and technical employees of the University of Hawaii have ratified a new two-year contract.

The Hawaii Government Employees Association says unit members voted 95 percent to accept the contract Thursday. The new contract covers July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2015.

Terms include a 4 percent across-the-board increase, 60 percent employer contribution of insurance premiums and four professional development days with pay for employees who were subjected to a 5 percent salary reduction from July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2013.
