MANHEIM, Pa. (WHTM) — A new U-Haul storage facility is currently under construction in Lancaster County.

According to U-Haul, construction of their new storage facility, located at 1985 State Road in Manheim, officially broke ground on Thursday, March 7.

The new three-story storage facility will be built on a 13.33-acre property and will boast 1,295 indoor climate-controlled self-storage units. U-Haul says that these units will also feature high-tech security features at affordable price points.

“We’re excited to expand our reach in Lancaster County,” Kurt Hoffman, U-Haul Company of Harrisburg president said. “We take pride in providing trusted moving and self-storage products that everyone needs. This project will help us meet customer demand, and I’m confident our customers will be very impressed with the finished result.”

In addition to the climate-controlled storage units, the new facility will also have a warehouse for U-Box mobile storage containers. U-Haul says that future customers will also have access to truck and trailing sharing services, moving supplies, an enclosed loading and unloading area, U-Haul Remote 24/7 access, and more.

“This site was part of the Landis Farm and has easy access to Route 283 and State Road,” Jeff Levengood, U-Haul Owners Representative for Northeastern Pennsylvania said. “This community is growing. There are new housing projects everywhere. Being located near the newly constructed Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center is important and convenient for our customers.”

The new U-Haul Moving & Storage facility is scheduled to open its doors in 2025. Once the new facility opens, U-Haul expects to create 20 new jobs in the area.

According to U-Haul, they were first founded back in 1945 and today they have more than 23,000 rental locations across all 50 states and 10 Canadian provinces.
