U.S. Hands Bagram Prison Over to Afghans

Praising the transfer as a victory for his nation’s sovereignty, Afghan President Hamid Karzai oversaw the handoff of Bagram prison from the U.S. to Afghan forces, the Associated Press reported.

Disagreements between the two countries over terrorism suspects held there remain. Yet when the agreement was signed in March, the U.S. had already handed off authority over some 3,000 detainees.
