U.S. EPA Administrator Michael Regan going back to East Palestine again Tuesday
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Michael Regan is making his third visit to East Palestine on Tuesday since the Feb. 3 Norfolk Southern train derailment.
Regan is returning to the eastern Ohio community to meet with impacted residents, highlight new resources available and provide an update on the federal response to the environmental issues caused by the derailment.
Afterwards, Regan will hold a 12:30 p.m. press conference that will be live-streamed.
More:Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, others make home visits in East Palestine, drink tap water
Last week, Regan drank tap water in the homes of East Palestine residents with Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine in an effort to reassure residents that their municipal water supply is safe to drink.
The Norfolk Southern train that derailed was heading to Conway Yard in Conway, Beaver County, western Pennsylvania when it derailed. Five of the cars contained vinyl chloride, which was discharged through a controlled release to prevent an explosion.
