The U.S. could announce a new military aid package for Ukraine as early as this week, Politico reported, citing two anonymous American officials.
President Joe Biden's administration wants to return to the earlier schedule of providing military aid to Ukraine, Politico said.
Previously, the U.S. sent weapons to Ukraine every two weeks.

It is unlikely that a new aid package will be announced today (May 21) following the May 20 meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine (Ramstein format), Politico's sources said.
Instead, a new military aid package for Ukraine may be announced later this week.
The 22nd meeting of the Contact Group in the Rammstein format took place online on May 20.
U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced new aid packages before the meeting and assured that American support "will steadily flow to Ukraine week after week."
U.S. aid for Ukraine
After months of delay, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill providing over $60 billion in support for Ukraine on April 20.

The U.S. Senate also passed a bill providing aid to Ukraine on April 24.
U.S. President Joe Biden signed the bill the same day, adding that deliveries would begin "immediately, within hours."
The aid package includes ammunition for air defense systems, artillery, missile systems, and armored vehicles, he added
The new aid package for Ukraine should last until the end of 2024, the White House stated.
The U.S. had secretly sent over 100 long-range ATACMS missiles to Ukraine in March, The New York Times reported.
