Tyronn Lue wishes Cavs remembered defenses like they do handshakes

The Cleveland Cavaliers’ intricate handshakes with one another are starting to rival those of Cameron Payne and Russell Westbrook, and the complexity has been turned up to the next level during the Cavs’ 8-0 start to the playoffs. Head coach Tyronn Lue just wishes his players could remember the defensive plans he draws up as well as they remember the different orders of claps and head rubs.

“I wish we could remember some of the defensive schemes that well,” Lue said after practice on Wednesday, laughing. “Guys come inside like, ‘My bad, I forgot,’but they remember all this and that (imitates handshake). I don’t know where they come up with that stuff at.”

Lue says he never really sees his players practicing the handshakes; they just appear. One thing is for certain: Lue isn’t quite in the loop on how to do the ‘shakes. His imitation was … poor, to say the least.

These are the things you can focus on when you’ve rolled through the first two rounds of the playoffs and have more than a week off while you wait to find out who you’ll be facing in the Eastern Conference finals.
