Eyewitness video shows moment wave from Typhoon Haiyan hit Philippines

More than a week after Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines, a new video shows just how powerful the devastating storm was when it came ashore.

Nickson Gensis, a development worker for Plan Philippines, captured the footage on Nov. 8 from Hernani in the province of Eastern Samar.

"We took refuge on the top floor of a boarding house," Gensis explained. "The five others were praying and I was filming."

The storm left 3,974 people dead and approximately 1,200 others missing, according to officials.
