A new type of army base is coming to Franklin County, first ever in the United States

(WHTM)– A groundbreaking ceremony in the Midstate was the first of its kind in the whole country.

We’re talking about Tuesday morning’s ground breaking at Letterkenny Army Depot in Franklin County. This is part of a 15-year army plan -to build modern organic industrial bases, starting with Letterkenny.

“It’s the first, groundbreaking for the organic industrial base, 15 year, modernization implementation plan,” Letterkenny Army Depot Commander Col. Donald Santillo said. “And so, we’re proud to be, the first, depot across the United States to actually be able to get some some shovels in some dirt.”
