Tyler, the Creator Officially Puts Infamous Twitter Handle to Rest

It's the end of an era.

Last night Tyler, the Creator took to Twitter to make a quick announcement that he would officially be dropping his infamous Twitter handle @FuckTyler. His new handle will simply be @TylerTheCreator. For fans who have been following Tyler for years, this seems like an end of an era—the hundreds of disappointed replies to his tweet are enough proof. However, this may be a smart move.

Tyler joined Twitter in July of 2010 when he was only 19 years old. In the time since then he's grown into quite the businessman—still managing to do things by his own rules. Now at 25 years old, it seems this new name change could be an effort to make him and his brand a bit more presentable to wider audiences. For obvious reasons, there's plenty of cases where Tyler would not be able to properly present his Twitter, whether it be on television, billboards, or more. The new simple, and more appropriate name would allow him to branch out further, which could lead to a bigger future. Earlier this month we saw a change similar to this when Young Thug announced his own name change.

However, this change is really a minor detail in Tyler's career. There doesn't seem to be any need to worry that he's going to "sell out" or anything like that, he's just taking smarter steps forward. Tyler's tweets are sure to still contain the same personality we've all grown to love him for. As for his Instagram name, it seems the funny handle @FeliciaTheGoat is still prospering for the time being, but it wouldn't come as a surprise if he tried to change this one in the near future.
