Tyler City Council approves $3.2M for asphalt improvements

TYLER, Texas (KETK) – The Tyler City Council voted on Wednesday to approve more than $3.2 million to contract improvements for asphalt and street pavement.

Downtown Longview roads to close for parking garage construction

According to the City of Tyler, the contract with Reynolds and Kay LTD totaling $3,203,701 is a part of their 2024 Asphalt Enhancement Project. The city said that the project is prioritized “according to the pavement condition index scores.”

The project will reportedly include 16 “lane miles” of city streets, alley paving, replacing the Bois D’Arc Avenue storm sewer and street and the streets at Lake Tyler.

The City of Tyler said that they expect the Asphalt Enhancement Project to begin later this month and to conclude in February 2025. The city added that the project is funded through the Half-Cent Sales Tax Fund, Tyler Water Utilities and the general fund through the storm-water, alley and brick street funds.
