After two years, Plainview-Elgin-Millville seeks new superintendent

May 13—PLAINVIEW, Minn. — Two years after the district last went through the process, Plainview-Elgin-Millville is searching for a new superintendent.

The district's existing superintendent, Darrin Strosahl, has accepted a position as the executive director of the Minnesota Rural Education Association. The organization announced the addition of Strosahl in a news update dated April 18.

"On behalf of the Board, we have full confidence in Darrin's ability to lead MREA into the next chapter, with a continued focus on advocacy, communications, and an exceptional member experience," MREA Board President Michelle Rinke Koch. "His passion for leading and growing the voice of Greater Minnesota education was abundantly clear during the interview process."

Strosahl began his role with PEM in the summer of 2022. By the time he ends his commitments with the district at the end of June, he will have held the position for two years.

The PEM School Board has already started the process of searching for a new superintendent to fill the position. The board is scheduled to discuss the search more on Monday, May 13, to determine the finalists for the position.

According to School Board Chairman Jake Thompson, 11 candidates applied. The district will be hosting interviews May 20-21. Thompson said the board intends to have a new superintendent in the role before the start of the new school year.
