Two Wisconsin Rapids residents hospitalized after motorcycle crash in Portage County

GRANT – One person was airlifted and another was taken by ambulance to the hospital after a motorcycle crash Sunday evening in the town Grant.

The crash happened about 6:20 p.m. Sunday on Portage County WW near 110th Street. An initial investigation found a 66-year-old Wisconsin Rapids man was driving a motorcycle east on Portage County WW near 110th Street when he lost control and left the south edge of the road, entering a field and ejecting himself and a 59-year-old Wisconsin Rapids woman who was riding as a passenger, according to a news release from the Portage County Sheriff's Office.

Neither rider was wearing a helmet at the time.

An ambulance took the man to Marshfield Medical Center for minor injuries. The Aspirus MedEvac medical helicopter flew the woman to Marshfield Medical Center for serious injuries, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The man received citations for multiple violations, including first offense operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, causing injury, the Sheriff's Office said.

Officials are continuing to investigate the crash.
