Two teens killed in Hartford shooting at same location

Two high school students were killed in a shooting in Hartford on Saturday night, police said.

Officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting at 94 Hendricxsen Ave. at 10:33 p.m. and found two people suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the Hartford Police Department.

Lavante Brown, 19, and Aydin Davis, 16, were both unresponsive at the scene.

They were taken to Hartford Hospital where they were both pronounced dead, police said.

The major crimes and crime scene divisions responded to the scene and were investigating.

According to Hartford Superintendent of Schools Leslie Torres-Rodriguez, Brown and Davis were both high school students in the city.

“With deep regret and sadness, I inform you about the recent loss of two of our students, Lavante Brown, a 19-year-old at Weaver High School, and Aydin Davis, a 16-year-old at University High School of Science and Engineering (UHSSE),” Torres-Rodriguez said in a statement to the school community.

“Our District Crisis Intervention Team has been assembled and will help with the needs of students, families, and school personnel. We have counselors and social workers available for any student who may need or want help or any type of assistance.”
