Two teens injured in Fulton County Crash, treated and released after Monday's accident

Jul. 6—Two juveniles were taken to hospitals with serious injuries after a Monday afternoon accident between a car and 15-passenger bus in Fulton County.

Nine other juveniles from the bus were taken to Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester and examined, according to an announcement from Fulton County Sheriff Chris Sailors.

The nine had minor injuries minor scrapes and bruising.

A 17 year old boy from the bus was airlifted from the scene by Samaritan to South Bend Memorial with unknown injuries, and a 17-year-old girl from the bus was taken to Woodlawn for shoulder and hip pain.

Both have been treated and released.

The accident happened about 1:10 p.m. on U.S. 31 at the intersection of Southway 31/Old U.S. 31.

Based on initial sheriff's department investigation, a 2008 Gold Cadillac DTS with Indiana registration was going north on Old U.S. 31 approaching U.S. 31.

The driver, identified as Owen B. Hileman, 18, of Macy, stopped at U.S. 31 and crossed the southbound lane entering the crossover, according to the sheriff's department.

Macy then proceeded to cross the northbound lane and collided with a 2018 white Ford 15-passenger bus with Kentucky registration.

Macy was the only one in his vehicle and was treated and released at Woodlawn.

He was ticketed for failure to yield.

The bus driver, Darrell L. McCarty, 64, of Lexington, Kentucky, was also treated and released at Woodlawn.

Those assisting at the accident scene include Indiana State Police, Rochester Police Department, Kewanna Marshal's Office, Rochester Fire Department, Liberty Township Fire Department, Culver and Argos emergency responders, Kosciusko County, Miami County and Lutheran EMS.
