Two teens arrested in JCPenny stabbing incident in Hanford

HANDFORD, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The Hanford Police Department says they’ve arrested two juveniles on suspicion of a stabbing that occurred on May 11.

Officials say at about 3:38 p.m. Handford Police received a 911 call regarding multiple juveniles fighting inside a JCPenny.

Additional 911 callers reported one person was stabbed and multiple suspects were fleeing the scene according to officials.

When officers arrived, officials say those officers found one suspect fleeing on foot. The suspect was eventually apprehended and identified as a 14-year-old male juvenile according to officials.

Officials say Police later received a call from Adventist Health Hanford reporting another juvenile who had arrived at the ER with a stab wound in the center of their chest.

The victim was in critical condition and had to be taken to a trauma center for further care.

The Hanford Police Department Detective Unit and Street Crimes Unit responded and took over the investigation, investigators were able to identify a 13-year-old male suspect according to officials.

Officials say a search warrant was executed at the suspect’s residence where he was taken into custody without incident.

Both the 13 and 14-year-old suspects were booked into Kings County Juvenile Center for assault with a deadly weapon, participation in a criminal street gang, resisting arrest, and delaying or obstructing an officer between the two of them.

This incident is suspected to be gang-related.
