Two teenagers charged over anti-Semitic attack on rabbi in north London park
Two teenagers have been charged with racially aggravated assault after a rabbi was attacked in north London.
The senior religious leader, 54, who has not been named, was beaten up by two people who shouted “Kill the Jews”, “Dirty Jew” and “F**k Jews” at him in Amhurst Park, Clapton, on 29 November.
The two teenagers, aged 14 and 15, handed themselves in on Tuesday morning at an east London police station after detectives launched an appeal on Monday.
The Met Police released CCTV images of two people they wanted to speak to in connection with the anti-Semitic attack which happened just before 10pm.
Officers said the teens came forward after relatives recognised them in CCTV pictures.
The rabbi, who was visiting the UK from Israel for a wedding, was attacked after he left Bobov Synagogue in Egerton Road, according to the Jewish neighbourhood patrol group Shomrim.
The group said the religious leader was found “collapsed on the pavement, bleeding and dazed”.
The victim, who is a Judaic court judge, was allegedly punched to the ground and then continuously beaten until a passerby stopped the attack.

Met Police said in a statement: “Detectives investigating a racially-aggravated assault on a 54-year-old man in Stamford Hill have charged two boys.
“A 14-year-old and a 15-year-old boy were charged on Tuesday, 17 December, in connection with an incident in Amhurst Park on Friday, 29 November.”
The two suspects are due to appear at Stratford Youth Court on 7 January, 2020.
