Two suspected in Belle Glade shooting apprehended near Gardens Mall

Two people suspected in a shooting in Belle Glade were caught Sunday near The Gardens Mall by Palm Beach County sheriff's deputies.

The two people are suspected to be involved in a shooting in the 500 block of Southeast Fourth Street in Belle Glade, where deputies found a person shot at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday. The condition of the wounded person, who was taken to a local hospital, was unknown Sunday evening.

The suspects' vehicle was located in Lake Park, where a traffic stop was attempted. The two fled towards Palm Beach Gardens where they stopped their vehicle and ran away near The Gardens Mall.

Both suspects were apprehended by sheriff's deputies. A weapon was located, according to Palm Beach County sheriff's spokeswoman Teri Barbera.

Barbera said no arrests had been made as of 6 p.m. Sunday, but the suspects were being interviewed.
