Jones confirmed to News 19 that one of the victims was Lauderdale County Deputy David Terry. On Wednesday, FPD identified the female victim as 57-year-old Dawn Buchanan.

In a statement on social media, Sheriff Joe Hamilton said Terry was a 26-year veteran of the office who most recently served as Director of Corrections.

“Deputy Terry had recently turned in his retirement paperwork and was set to retire in July,” Hamilton said. “Please keep Deputy Terry’s family, and the men and women who served alongside him for so many years, in your prayers.”

Terry leaves behind a wife and three children.
