Two people killed in Danville crash Monday evening identified

UPDATE: The Hendricks County Coroner's Office identified the two people killed in the car crash Tuesday evening.

ORIGINAL STORY: Two people were killed in a vehicle crash on Cartersburg Road in Danville on Monday evening, according to the Danville Metropolitan Police Department.

The crash, which occurred at 5:30 p.m. just north of County Road 200 South, shut down the roadway west of Indianapolis for several hours while officers investigated.

The two people killed in the crash were Bryce King, 23, and Abigail Scheibelhut, 26, the Hendricks County Coroner's Office said Tuesday evening.

King was an assistant football coach at Cascade High School, according to a Facebook Post from the school's football program.

King graduated from Danville Community High School in 2017, according to a post from Danville Community High School Athletics.

The Danville Metropolitan Police Department encouraged motorists to avoid the area and seek alternative routes just after 7:30 p.m. Monday in a Facebook post.

Details about what caused the crash were not available Tuesday evening.
