When fire crews arrived to the scene, city officials said they found flames at a two-story ranch house with people trapped inside.

A fire engine from the Stanislaus County agency initiated an exterior fire attack while the city fire department performed a vent-enter search through windows on the rear of the house, officials said.

Crews located and rescued one victim, who was tended to outside by medical personnel. Two adults were declared dead at the scene, officials said.

The city of Patterson said the cause of the fire is being investigated by the Stanislaus Sheriff’s Office and fire officials.
