Two men shot, one fatally, on Bronx street

One man was killed and another was wounded when they were shot on a Bronx street, police said Monday.

Witnesses watched as a car with about three men inside stalked the victims on Ely Ave. near Strang Ave. in Wakefield around 10:50 p.m. Sunday before pulling over and confronting the men.

One gunman fired multiple shots, striking a 29-year-old man sitting on a scooter in the head and a 40-year-old man in the leg, cops and witnesses said.

“They shot both of them,” said a 63-year-old witness who did not provide his name. “The other guy ran and he fell down over there.

“One fell right there, dead,” he added. “I had to clean up his blood.”

Medics rushed both men to Jacobi Medical Center, where the younger victim died. His name was not immediately released.

The other victim is in stable condition.

The killer sped off in a gray Honda Accord with tinted windows and has not been caught, police said.

“This was a nice, quiet neighborhood,” said another witness, who asked not to be identified. “Now, it’s crazy.”

It wasn’t immediately clear what sparked the shooting or who was targeted, police said.
