Two men sentenced to federal prison for fentanyl trafficking in Manitowoc and Milwaukee

MANITOWOC - Two men received federal sentences for trafficking fentanyl in Manitowoc and Milwaukee, the U.S. Department of Justice announced in a news release Tuesday.

Jabari Samuel, 42, of Milwaukee, and Anthony C. Martinez, 32, of Manitowoc, are sentenced to 15 and 9.5 years, respectively. Both are convicted of conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl. Samuel was additionally convicted of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense, the news release said.

Martinez was sentenced Dec. 20, and Samuel was sentenced Jan. 6.

According to the news release, an investigation revealed that during the course of two months over the summer of 2021, Martinez received fentanyl from Samuel in Milwaukee every other day and brought it to Manitowoc for further distribution. In total, Martinez received about 2.2 pounds of fentanyl from Samuel.

On June 21, investigators executing a search warrant found about 3.7 pounds of fentanyl at Samuel's home in Milwaukee, as well as a firearm and about $17,023 in cash.

Both Samuel and Martinez had prior convictions for drug trafficking offenses, the news release said.
