Two men arrested after Elmira armed burglary, one at large

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — Two Elmira men were arrested after police responded to an armed burglary on West First Street early on Monday morning. Police are looking for a third suspect.

Patrick Woodard, 24, and Josiah Stowe-Alington, 22, were arrested on burglary charges on Jan. 29. According to the Elmira Police Department, a West First Street resident flagged down officers at 2:52 a.m. to report a burglary at an occupied home in the neighborhood. Police responded to the address on the 500 block and found three males at the back of the property.

All three of the men fled the scene, but police apprehended Woodard and Stowe-Alington shortly after. The men had soft body armor and a loaded 9mm carbine in their possession. A picture of the weapon can be seen below.

According to the Elmira Police Department, the men involved in the burglary knew the intended target, and this was not a random act.

Woodard and Stowe-Alington were both charged with first-degree burglary, a class B violent felony. This charge carries a maximum sentence of 25 years in state prison.

The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office assisted the EPD during the investigation. This investigation is ongoing, and police are working on charging the third person involved.
