Two killed, seven injured in Wilbarger County wreck

Two people, including a 9-year-old girl, were killed in a three-vehicle crash that also injured seven others Saturday in Wilbarger County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

It happened at 6:10 p.m. on U.S. Highway 70 about a mile west of Oklaunion.

DPS Sgt. Juan Gutierrez said a Honda Odyssey driven by Than Than Scwe, 49, of Vernon was traveling southwest when a GMC Yukon attempted to pass a Honda Pilot in the left lane.

The Odyssey failed to make a curve, went across a cable barrier and a grassy median and struck the Yukon head-on. The Pilot could not avoid crashing into the wreckage.

Gutierrez said Schwe was killed, and a 14-year-old girl in his vehicle was injured.

A 9-year-old girl in the Yukon died of her injuries at Wilbarger General Hospital. The driver, Michael Mullins, 48, and passengers Marissa Mullins, 45, and two boys, ages 15 and 13, were seriously injured. All five are from Dallas.

The driver of the Pilot, Hernando Trejos, 44, and passenger Lorena Trejos, 39, were injured. Both are from Fort Worth.

Gutierrez said it was raining at the time of the accident and weather may have been a factor.

A dog in the vehicle with the Dallas family ran away but was later located and returned.
