Two hurt in Baton Rouge shooting Tuesday night. Police investigating, no suspect named
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened around 8:05 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, on North 13th Street.
According to BRPD, two people were transported to the hospital with gunshot wounds. The wounds were not life-threatening, and both are in stable condition at this time.
This is an ongoing investigation, and BPRD has not yet named any suspects.
Baton Rouge has seen an uptick in homicides and violent crime in the first months of 2024. The first quarter had 33 homicides, double the count for the same period in 2023.
Man arrested in connection to Friday night shooting in Baton Rouge
Police said Baton Rouge had 81 actual homicides in 2023, not including negligent homicide or self-defense slayings.
At a previous news conference, BRPD Chief Thomas Morse Jr. said most of the shootings this year have been targeted and personal, not random crimes.
