Two hospitalized following multi-vehicle crash on US-220 in Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Two people have been taken to the hospital following a multi-vehicle crash on US-220 North in Roanoke on Friday morning.

The Roanoke Police Department says the crash took place between Franklin Road and the Wonju Street Exit.

Details are limited; however, police said their preliminary investigation indicates, a vehicle was stopped in the traffic lane and was hit by other vehicles.

We’re told two people were taken to the hospital and are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the crash, VDOT is reporting traffic is backed up for almost two miles. Currently, drivers are being detoured off of Route 220 at Franklin Road.

Police said 220 will be closed for some time, as crews work to clear the Interstate. Drivers are encouraged to use an alternative route and avoid the area.
