Infant found at scene of murder-suicide in Coweta County neighborhood

COWETA COUNTY, Ga. - Coweta County investigations say the death of a man and woman found in a car in a subdivision on Thursday evening is being investigated as a murder-suicide.

The car was parked next to the curb along Hayward Bishop Way near Hayward Bishop Court inside the Peek’s Crossing subdivision.

A resident noticed the vehicle, saw two people appearing to be unconscious inside, and called 911.

According to the Coweta County Sheriff's Office, a man and woman were found dead from apparent gunshot wounds. An infant was also in the vehicle at the time of the shooting, officials say.

FOX 5 crews saw crime scene tape blocking the street surrounding a blue Nissan, which had its windows covered with sheets. Deputies were erecting a privacy barrier around the vehicle.

Investigators combed the area for evidence, spoke with neighbors, and checked homes for surveillance video.

"Sad, very sad for what had happened … nothing ever happens over here like that," said Demetrice Foster.

The names of the two individuals found dead in the car have not been released.

Deputies say the child is now safe with family members.
