THE STANDOFF

The address,104 Huron St., is across from Linway Plaza. During the standoff, the house was surrounded by GPD officers, weapons drawn, with traffic blocked off at Lincoln and Chicago avenues. At least one officer with a sniper rifle arrived on scene, and rounded the Anytime Fitness building.

By 5:20 p.m. SWAT officers were gathering near the back door, as well as the front. By 5:48 p.m. a SWAT team officer was on a bullhorn, telling an occupant of the building to exit the house with his hands up. Shortly after that, multiple booms could be heard, with apparent tear gas being shot into the house.

Goshen resident Bill Malone lives near the scene, and said he had recently had a conversation with the homeowner there, who had a wife and two children, and it was his understanding they had lived there for about a month.

"He was a nice guy," Malone said.

Many other local residents gathered in Linway Plaza as well, taking photos of the scene.

Also in Linway Plaza, the Goshen Fire Department had reported to a car fire earlier, near the Goshen Bureau of Motor Vehicles branch.
