Two flown to hospital after head-on crash on Highway 58 in Carroll County

CARROLL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Two people were flown to the hospital for treatment of critical injuries after a head-on collision in Carroll County on April 15.

Details about what led to the crash are limited; however, the Hillsville Fire Department says shortly after 5 p.m. crews were called to the intersection of Highway 68 (Carrollton Pike) and Training Center Road.

When crews arrived, they discovered a person was trapped inside their vehicle. First responders removed the side door to help free the patient.

The fire department says two helicopters were called to assist a patient from each vehicle. Lifeguard 11 and Highlands 4 both landed on Highway 58.

Two people were taken to the hospital, and their conditions are currently unknown.

The crash remains under investigation by state troopers.
