Two facing drug charges and high bonds after home raid, car chase, deputies say

HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — Two Houston County men were arrested on Thursday and booked into the Houston County Jail on bonds over a million dollars after deputies say they found a multitude of drugs during a home raid and car chase.

On February 29, Houston County Sheriff’s Special Response Team (SRT) executed a search warrant at a home in the 200 block of Lewis Road in Pansey.

According to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, during the raid of the home, deputies found 112 grams of methamphetamine, Fentanyl pills, approximately 240 grams of marijuana, and a handgun and arrested 39-year-old Devon Jones, who was in the home.

Jones is charged with two counts of Drug Trafficking, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree, and Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Firearm. Additionally, he is facing two counts of violating the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA).

He was booked into the Houston County Jail on a combined bond of $3,075,00.

Major Bill Rafferty says that at the same time authorities were raiding the home, deputies were chasing a vehicle on Highway 84 near the intersection of Lewis Road and stopped the car using a PIT maneuver.

Major Rafferty tells WDHN that during the search of the car, driven by 55-year-old Robert Peterson, deputies found 30 grams of meth, marijuana, and a large sum of money.

Peterson, an Ashford resident, was charged with one count of Drug Trafficking and booked into the Houston County Jail on a $1,500,000 bond.

It is currently unknown if the chase and raid are connected.
