Two dead in murder-suicide in Franklin County, state police say

Two people were found dead at a home in Franklin County Wednesday in what Pennsylvania State Police are investigating as a murder-suicide.

Troopers responded to a residence in Lenwood Park, located east of U.S. 11 in Southampton Township, at 7:25 p.m. after receiving a report that shots were fired during a domestic altercation, according to a news release from state police.

After multiple unsuccessful attempts to contact anyone inside, PSP's Special Emergency Response Team was brought in.

A 60-year-old man and a 67-year-old woman were found dead with gunshot wounds, police said.

Their official causes of death are pending autopsies. The identities of the deceased will be released after next-of-kin are notified.

Police said they are investigating this incident as a murder-suicide and there is no danger to the general public, according to the news release.

State police did not indicate which person was the shooter. The PSP Troop H Major Case Team is investigating.
