Two Dead, Dozens Injured After 'Tornado' Tears Apart Virginia Campground
Two are dead and dozens more have reportedly been injured after a severe storm hit a Virginia Campground Thursday with winds toppling tents and downing trees.
“It came in real quick,” Eastville volunteer firefighter Brittney Eder told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. “The sky turned jet black.”

The storm, which contained potentially tornado-force winds, hit the Cherrystone Family Camping & RV Resort in rural Northampton County by the Chesapeake Bay. The National Weather Service issued a Tornado Warning for the area this morning. Some 1,300 people were vacationing when it hit.
The 300-acre compound which is equipped with 725 camping sites including cabins, cottages, and deluxe campers recently celebrated its 50th anniversary
Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe is monitoring the situation and has dispatched regional state emergency management officials to the area, he said in a statement. He also offered his condolences to the victims and their families.
We are all saddened by the reports of injuries and lives lost in this storm and will continue to offer our thoughts and prayers to the Virginia families who were affected, along with whatever support is necessary to help these communities move forward.”
