Two Citronelle players commit to play college football

Editor’s Note: This article has been updated with the correct mascot of Citronelle High School.

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Two Citronelle Wildcats football players have committed to play at the collegiate level.

Senior quarterback Justin Adams committed to play for Huntingdon College in Montgomery on Sunday, March 31. The dual-threat quarterback and second-team All-State selection in 5A play accounted for eight passing touchdowns and seven rushing touchdowns in his senior year.

Mobile Fire-Rescue reminds residents of grill safety after historic home goes up in flames

Senior offensive guard and center Bruce Smith committed to play for Birmingham Prep on Friday, March 29. The 6-1; 260-pound interior offensive lineman helped pave the way for the Wildcats averaging 94.5 rushing yards per game.

The Wildcats finished the 2024 season with an overall record of 6-4, their first winning season since 2019.

HoundDog.ai helps developers prevent personal information from leaking
HoundDog.ai, a startup that helps developers ensure their code doesn't leak personally identifiable information (PII), came out of stealth Wednesday and announced a $3.1 million seed round lead by E14, Mozilla Ventures and ex/ante, in addition to a number of angel investors. Unlike other scanning tools, HoundDog actually looks at the code a developer is writing, using both traditional pattern matching and large language models (LLMs) to find potential issues. HoundDog was founded by Amjad Afanah, who previously co-founded DCHQ, which was later acquired by Gridstore (which, to complicate things, then changed its name to HyperGrid) in 2016.

Linktree surpasses 50M users, rolls out its social commerce program to more creators
Link-in-bio startup Linktree said on Wednesday that it has surpassed 50 million users. The company has been growing consistently, adding nearly 10 million users (or Linkers, as Linktree calls them) in the span of just five months: In December, the company told TechCrunch that it had 41 million users, and it reported over 47 million users this March. Linktree is considered one of the top link-in-bio tools on the market, with its rivals owning a significantly smaller portion of the pie: competitor Later has around 7 million users, whereas Beacons has more than 2 million.

DeepL, which builds automated text translation and writing tools that compete against the likes of Google Translate and Grammarly, said on Wednesday that it has raised an additional $300 million. This round, led by Index Ventures, underscores the frenetic interest that investors have in AI startups at the moment and how companies are capitalizing on that opportunity while they can.
