Two arrested in Pittsburg for attempted vehicle theft

PITTSBURG, Kan. — The Pittsburg Police Department arrested two people for attempting to steal a vehicle.

Just after 9:00 p.m. Wednesday (3/6), police were called to the to the 100 block of East 22nd Street in Pittsburg. The call was in reference to a report of suspicious activity concerning a motor vehicle. Upon arrival officers met with Crystal D. Wyrick, 45, and Corey E. Beaman, 40, both of Pittsburg.

According to Pittsburg police, Wyrick and Beaman had attempted to haul away a 1997 Chevy
Blazer from the street — after having backed up their Ford F-150 pickup and trailer to the front of the Blazer.

The owners of the Blazer witnessed both Wyrick and Beaman attempting to steal
their Chevy Blazer and contacted the police.

Authorities say the two were taken into custody without incident. During the
subsequent search after arrest, items believed to be illegal drugs and related drug
paraphernalia were found on Beaman, who also had an active arrest warrant from Barton County.

Wyrick and Beaman were transported to the Crawford County Jail. Wyrick is charged with attempted felony theft and is being held on a $3,500 bond. Beaman was charged with felony theft, felony possession of illegal drugs, misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia, and for the Barton County arrest warrant. He is being held without bond.
