Two arrested after New Orleans traffic stop leads to drug, weapon bust

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department made two arrests Tuesday, May 7 after a traffic stop led to the discovery of drugs and weapons in New Orleans East.

NOPD officers said around 4:50 p.m., they pulled over a vehicle at the corner of Interstate 10 and Crowder Boulevard.

During the stop, officers said they recognized “suspicious material” inside the vehicle and issued a search warrant.

As officers searched the vehicle, they allegedly found firearms, narcotics, weight scales and other drug trafficking paraphernalia.

As a result, NOPD officers arrested 28-year-old Lawrence Cuillett and 30-year-old Justin Bocage on narcotics charges.

Additionally, Cuillett was also arrested for allegedly being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, said NOPD officers.
