Two arrested after high-speed pursuit in Teller County
(TELLER COUNTY, Colo.) — Two people were arrested on multiple felony charges after getting into a pursuit in Teller and Park Counties, according to the Teller County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO).
TCSO said on Monday, April 8, at around 4:45 p.m. deputies saw a green Land Rover matching the description of a suspect vehicle involved in a trespassing incident the day before, at the Conoco Gas Station in Divide.
Deputies confirmed it was the same vehicle and conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of County Road 5 and County Road 51. As deputies approached the vehicle, the driver sped away.
TCSO said during the pursuit the Land Rover reached speeds of over 90 mph and was seen crossing over into oncoming traffic, endangering the lives of other travelers. The driver also attempted to force TCSO vehicles off the road. A stop stick was deployed causing two tires to deflate.
The Land Rover crashed into a power pole on Crystal Peak Drive near the intersection of Horse Creek Circle. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were taken into custody without further incident. The downed power pole did cause a small fire but deputies were able to extinguish it.
Upon searching the vehicle, TCSO found a pair of brass knuckles, 14 grams of suspected fentanyl, syringes containing an unknown substance, drug paraphernalia, and burglary tools.
The driver has been identified by TCSO as 37-year-old Gordon A. Hintz of Colorado Springs. He is currently facing charges of:
Three counts of Second Degree Assault on a Peace Officer
Four counts of Second Degree Assault
Possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance
Second Degree Kidnapping
Other pending charges
TCSO said Hintz is also wanted for warrants for Flight and Escape from the Colorado Department of Corrections, and two warrants out of El Paso County.
The passenger was identified as 28-year-old Paege A. Bolt of Colorado Springs and is facing charges of:
Possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance
Possession of an illegal weapon
Possession of burglary tools
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Violation of a protection order
According to TCSO, Bolt also has warrants out from El Paso and Douglas Counties.
